Tongboyu: Historical Romance of Overseas Chinese Postal Agencies is a full-length novel named after a place name of the Chaozhou-Shantou Region and has strong local cultural color and unique literary style. There are numerous characters in the novel, including more than one hundred leaders of the cultural and academic circles, political circles and commercial circles in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, such as Kang Youwei, Liang Qichao and Yu Youren. Many Chaozhou-Shantou humanities are shown in the novel. Blind musicians, water transporters, revolutionists, brokers... appeared respectively. The people and phenomena are too many to enumerate. The book mainly depicts the peculiar culture of overseas remittance and its historical development in Chaozhou-Shantou Region—The evolution history of overseas remittance from the Yuan Dynasty to 1976.
