The Ugly Dwarf

Third in a series featuring newspaper reporter Samuel Hamilton, The Ugly Dwarf explores the underbelly of San Francisco's beatnik and gay communities in the early 1960s. Investigating a grizzly murder, the trail leads Hamilton and his Homicide Department cohorts through a devious assortment of crooked lawyers, union officials, bureaucrats and cops to the dwarf preacher Dusty Schwartz, who, along with his dominatrix associate, preys on the city's Latin community.
